National Brokerage Consortium (NBC) is a nationwide network of family-owned independent brokerage agencies specializing in life insurance, annuities and long-term care insurance.
NBC was founded in 1989 by Reed Ashwill, Don Codori, John Rasberry, Paul Carrol, Arnie Katz, and Bernie Vukelich.
The original purpose was to aggregate production to maximize commissions, and there was one initial 'strategic partner company.' Since then, membership has increased to 34 and the number of strategic partner companies is now ten.
By laws have been amended to allow for growth and standing committees have been increased to include Finance, Audit, Strategic Partner, Judiciary and Long-Term Planning.
The NBC University, an important benefit unique to NBC, was added to educate and acculturate the daughters and sons of existing members in areas of management and marketing to allow successful agency perpetuation. The first graduating class was in 2007.
Members are very active in the management of their organization and currently over 40 members and staff are involved in leadership roles. There are now ten special committees including Compliance, Special Products, Membership Investigation, Long Term Care, Meetings, Member Relations, NBC University, Publicity & Publications, Technology, and Bonus Tracking.
The Treasurer's office now includes an Audit Committee and a Financial Secretary with defined duties & responsibilities including accounting, contract record keeping and bonus calculation & payments. Member-approved budgets are established each year.
The Strategic Partner Committee has established formal company screening protocols NBC/SPC standardized agreements for our relations with our partner companies, quarterly SPC Representative's conference calls and monthly SPC reports to membership.
The Long Term Planning committee is charged with the task of navigating NBC through the seas of our industry changes. The objective of the LTPC is to help NBC maintain a position of relevance with our members, Strategic Partner Companies and within the industry.
Our Technology Committee recently researched agency administrative platforms and comparative analysis and negotiated deep discounts for participating agency members who purchase the recommended Agency Works system.
The NBC Family has grown and retained the overall character and caring of a family environment. NBC is an aggregation of family owned businesses. In the future, our primary objectives will continue to be expanded membership with additional geographic emphasis and significant increases in overall premium production. |
